GE Intelligent Platforms is redesigning the RX3i IC695CPU310 with even more advanced technology. The new design will reduce maintenance, increase performance and protect backward compatibility. Key new features for the new CPU are built-in Ethernet, a USB master service port and battery-less dynamic data retention. The new controller is an environmentally friendly design that requires less energy andgenerates less heat than the previous design while at the same time providing more than three times the performance of the previous CPU. The Energy PAC battery-less design allows dynamic data and program changes to be retained and therefore eliminates the need to recycle depleted batteries. The new IC695CPE310 is a drop in replacement for the CPU310 and is target for an end of third quarter 2011 release. In addition to the IC695CPE310, a new single slot CPU will be developed to reduce panel space.

he PACSystems* RX3i non expandable seven-slot Universal Backplane (IC695CHS007) supports PCI-based (IC695) and serial (IC694) I/O and option modules with its dual-bus backplane. The RX3i Universal Backplane also supports Series 90-30 I/O and option modules. Its compact size makes the seven-slot rack ideal for applications that may require smaller racks, such as remote I/O and motion applications.

There are three new advanced analog modules for the RX3i serial bus that provide higher resolution and expanded diagnostics at an economical cost. The new efficiency modules provide expanded functionality without the incremental investment. The new 16 channel analog input modules provide 16 bit resolution with 32 bit Floating Point format. There are now 9 advanced alarms available Open Wire, Under Range, Over Range, High, High High, Low, Low Low and Rate of Change that help reduce down time and improve process control.The new powerful efficiency analog combination module provides four analog inputs and 2 analog outputs with the same advanced features. The analog output module supports Ramp Control and Clamping functionality.

These new efficiency modules provide advanced capabilities for a wide range of process applications. The new modules provide simple migration for RX3i users that want to upgrade their IC694ALG222, IC694ALG232 and IC694ALG542 to the more advanced modules with superior performance and diagnostics without impacting field wiring.
