Gescan is pleased to introduce Doug Palmer, our Branch Lighting Specialist working out of our Winnipeg office. Doug brings twenty-two (22) years of experience to our lighting division and is responsible for ensuring the right lighting stock is available for our customers. He also performs energy audits and educates customers on how much they can save through Manitoba’s LED Incentive Program. Staying on top of emerging lighting trends, Doug supports our Counter Associates, Inside Sales teams and project teams with lighting knowledge and quotations.

A self-proclaimed lighting geek, Doug became passionate about lighting after working in the showroom of Robinson Lighting in grade twelve. After graduating with a B.Comm in Entrepreneurship/Marketing from the University of Manitoba’s Asper School of Business, he left the lighting industry to pursue his training and worked in a variety of marketing roles. Five years later, Doug’s love of lighting drew him back into the field, and he dove into the industrial/commercial side of the lighting business.

With government incentives encouraging building owners to make the switch to more energy-efficient LEDs, Doug also helps facility managers understand the operational savings that come with adopting LEDs. In addition, Doug supports the application process that allows business owners to receive rebates through Efficiency Manitoba’s Business Lighting Program.

From a project perspective, customers can access Doug’s lighting knowledge for new build layouts, retrofit of existing spaces, and interior and exterior lighting for all industrial and commercial spaces. His experience extends internationally, having consulted on a retail retrofit for a large international company with operations in the Caribbean. The client benefitted from improved energy efficiency and reduced maintenance costs from their LED solution.
