Careers at GESCAN
Our Story

With over 60 years of industry experience, Gescan has 26 branches located across Western Canada. Gescan started out as a division of Canadian General Electric Co. Ltd. (CGE) in the 1920’s and was known as GE Supply Sales and Distribution. Later, this division was given the acronym Gescan for General Electric Supply Canada in 1975 and the name was used even after CGE sold the operations to BRE Electric in 1983, then subsequently to Sonepar in October 1989.

Gescan is a proud member of the Sonepar Canada family, one of the largest B-to-B electrical distribution networks in the world. In Canada, Sonepar is represented in nine provinces by Gescan, Lumen, Dixon Electric, MGM Electric, Sesco, Texcan and Vallen. Sonepar Canada has over 1900 employees working out of 114 offices between the unique brands. At Gescan, we leverage our strong global resource base, our local expertise, and our family-oriented values to deliver the best service to our customers and suppliers.
