Trend watch: Ecommerce has really taken flight in the last couple of years — more customers are looking for the ability to order their product themselves either from a website or app on their phone. 

What do you do for fun? I like to play sports (volleyball, baseball and basketball), go fishing and spend time with my spouse, watching movies and sports, hiking or gaming. 

Through a career that has taken him from the operations side of electrical distribution working in warehouses to his current position in outside sales, Bobby Olson has leveraged knowledge gained from each job to help him as he now works directly with outside sales clients. 

Although he recognized his friendly persona positioned him well for sales, Bobby started in warehouses — a move that showed him early on how important they are in the sales and distribution equation.  

“The employees working in the warehouse are the first and last to touch a product you are selling, making them an integral part of any sales representative’s day to day business,” he says. 

Although he went back to school to earn a degree in computer science from the University of Alberta in 2017, Bobby felt the pull back to electrical distribution, working for a number of organizations before joining Gescan in 2022. 

Over the course of his career, Bobby has worked in both inside and outside sales, using his strong analytical and problem-solving skills to meet customers’ needs. Today, acting as the face of Gescan when it comes to new and existing clients, Bobby strives to offer the best customer service possible, partnering with vendors to create a smooth buying experience. 

Looking ahead, he will help Gescan continue to establish itself as a leader in the industrial sector, increasing sales and improving customer retention through strong customer service and increased inventory.
