Gescan welcomes Information Communications Technology (ICT) Specialist serving the Manitoba and Saskatchewan regions, Casey Koniuck. With more than 30 years of industry experience, Casey has served as a Data Communication Specialist, Technical Sales Specialist, Account Manager and Territory Manager for some of the most well-known electrical distributors and manufacturers in Canada.

In his new role, Casey will be instrumental in ensuring Gescan branches are abundantly stocked with a diverse mix of ICT products from the industry's leading suppliers. He will also grow, train, and develop a team of specialists in his regions.

Casey studied Computer Science at the University of Manitoba before entering the computer market. A decade later, he transitioned to the electrical communications industry, progressively growing his career to achieve awards such as Rookie of the Year, Salesman of the Year and Largest Branch Increase in Sales of the Year. An expert in fiber optics, Casey attributes his success to his drive to constantly learn, amassing a wealth of knowledge about the latest products and technologies via training courses throughout his career.

Honesty and knowledge are the cornerstones of Casey's approach to building trusting customer relationships. "I call it selling through education. When your customers see your in-depth knowledge about products and applications, you become known as the expert. Customers will come to you because they know you can get the job done,” says Casey.

Such knowledge is particularly valuable in determining what a customer needs versus what they may want and in providing solution alternatives that are most efficient and cost-effective. “Sometimes customers can’t find what they need or get it in time. I pride myself on being able to find what will work for them, especially when they have no other solution,” says Casey.

What do you do for fun? I am always having fun. I love the outdoors, fishing and canoeing. I also travel a lot, choosing a different place each year (sometimes by closing my eyes and throwing a dart at a map). I just returned from a trip to Honduras.
